French quantum hardware startup Pasqal has partnered with Aramco to install and manage Saudi Arabia's first quantum computer. The terms and financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed.
As part of the agreement, Pasqal is expected to deploy a 200-qubit quantum computer by the second half of 2025. The initial setup uses "analog mode" technology, which will be upgraded to ann "analog-digital mode" for problem-solving. Both companies plan to identify new applications for the quantum computer and seek to develop a center for quantum research within Saudi Arabia.
The duo had already partnered in March 2022 to develop quantum-enhanced solutions for the energy sector and build Saudi Arabia’s quantum ecosystem.
