SHICKEN Foods introduces UK's first allergen-free plant-based chicken products

Product updates

  • SHICKEN Foods, a UK-based plant-based meat brand, has announced the development of a new recipe free from the top 14 allergens. Claimed to be a first in the UK, this recipe replaces previously used soy and wheat proteins with pea protein sourced from East Anglia.

  • Products utilizing this new recipe are produced at SHICKEN's certified allergen-free facility in Kent, UK, and will launch at Costco and other outlets in a phased rollout. According to the company, the recipe alteration enhances the product’s taste and texture and caters to a broader consumer base, considering various dietary needs.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Recently, SHICKEN Foods raised GBP 4 million (~USD 5.2 million) in funding from Veg Capital to enhance its facility in Kent. With an estimated 2 million people diagnosed with food allergies, these newly formulated food products could help the company attract new customers.
