Cohere raises USD 450 million in funding

  • Toronto-based AI startup Cohere has reportedly raised USD 450 million in a funding round from NVIDIA, Salesforce Ventures, Cisco, and PSP Investments. This brings the company's total valuation to USD 5 billion.

  • The exact purpose of the funding was not disclosed.

  • Analyst QuickTake: In January 2024, reports emerged that the company was in talks with investors to raise substantial capital, ranging from USD 500 million to USD 1 billion. This round more than doubled its valuation from USD 2.2 billion in June 2023, when it raised USD 270 million. The company has also been particularly active during this year, launching several new models including Command R, Command R+, and Aya 23, and other toolkits for AI development.
