Amazon’s 'Just Walk Out' to power checkout-free airport stores in Toronto and Minnesota

Partnerships

  • Amazon has partnered with the travel retailer Paradies Lagardère to launch a Just Walk Out-powered checkout-free store at the Toronto Pearson International Airport.

  • The store named The Goods Express is reportedly the first retail store in a Canadian airport to use Just Walk Out technology. The store will offer a range of items, including drinks, snacks, travel accessories, and electronics.

  •  The location also features interactive holographic displays by ARHT Media.

  • Amazon has also announced plans to open a Just Walk Out-powered store at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in partnership with the airport store chain Estes.

  • Analyst Quick Take: Despite Amazon’s recent decision to remove Just Walk Out technology at its Amazon Fresh grocery store locations, the company continues to steadily deploy the technology in partnership with third parties. The technology powers an airport store at Kansas City International Airport , and, as of April 2024 , powers 73 stadium-based stores.
