Skytree, a Netherlands-based developer of decentralized direct air capture (DAC) systems for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), has partnered with Purolite, a purification resin manufacturer, to upgrade DAC technology.
The partnership aims to develop a new generation of efficient and affordable capture material, using advanced sorbents in Skytree’s DAC units. This will potentially increase the capture capacity, decrease energy usage, and lower the cost of captured CO2 per ton.
Analyst QuickTake: This follows Skytree launching its second decentralized DAC unit, "Skytree Stratus" in March 2024 . This unit can generate up to 1,250 kg of CO2 per day from the atmosphere by supporting indoor farmers and greenhouse growers to enhance crop yield and productivity. Prior to this, the company launched Skytree Cumulus, the company’s small-scale and first decentralized DAC unit, in September 2023 .
