CarbonCapture unveils first US DAC system designed for mass production

Product updates

  • CarbonCapture, a developer of direct air capture (DAC) systems, has unveiled its Leo Series, the first US DAC system designed for mass production.

  • The Leo Series consists of 12 reactor modules, each capable of capturing over 500 tons of atmospheric CO2 per year. The modules feature an open-system architecture that allows upgrades to higher-capacity sorbents over their lifetime, minimizing the risk of obsolescence and reducing costs over time.

  • The modular units will be manufactured in a new 83,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Mesa, Arizona, capable of producing up to 4,000 modules per year.

  • The first batch of Leo Series modules will be deployed in 2025 and made available to carbon capture project developers worldwide.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The company’s first US DAC system was announced after a funding round that raised USD 80 million in a Series A financing round led by Prime Movers Lab in March 2024
