Altaris acquires Sharecare for USD 518 million to expand offerings

M&A

  • Digital therapeutics (DTx) provider Sharecare is to be acquired by healthcare investment firm Altaris for a consideration of USD 518 million at a sale price of USD 1.43 per share. The sale price is at a premium of ~85% to Sharecare’s closing price on June 20, 2024.

  • Post-acquisition, Sharecare will transition from a publicly traded company to a privately owned entity. Through the acquisition, Sharecare aims to leverage Altaris' healthcare expertise, increased capital, and operational flexibility to enhance solutions across Sharecare's three business channels.

  • Analyst QuickTake: M&A in the DTx space has been active for the past year. DTx company Sidekick Health acquired PINK! in June 2024 and aidhere in October 2023 to expand its offerings.
