Digital therapeutics (DTx) provider Sharecare is to be acquired by healthcare investment firm Altaris for a consideration of USD 518 million at a sale price of USD 1.43 per share. The sale price is at a premium of ~85% to Sharecare’s closing price on June 20, 2024.
Post-acquisition, Sharecare will transition from a publicly traded company to a privately owned entity. Through the acquisition, Sharecare aims to leverage Altaris' healthcare expertise, increased capital, and operational flexibility to enhance solutions across Sharecare's three business channels.
Analyst QuickTake: M&A in the DTx space has been active for the past year. DTx company Sidekick Health acquired PINK! in June 2024 and aidhere in October 2023 to expand its offerings. Additionally, Click Therapeutics acquired Better Therapeutics' DTx assets in May 2024 , while Mahana Therapeutics expanded its DTx in the European market by acquiring HiDoc Technologies (Cara Care) in March 2024 .
