NEG8 Carbon, an Irish DAC startup, and the Walton Institute, an Irish R&D center focused on ICT, have partnered to optimize NEG8's carbon capture technology using AI and machine learning.
Under the collaboration, the two parties will work on a two-year AI project to use predictive machine learning to monitor and optimize air temperature, humidity, sorbent material conditions, and energy prices for efficient carbon capture and regeneration cycles. The AI system will provide insights to maximize sorbent longevity and minimize regeneration costs, advancing NEG8's goal of developing large-scale DAC parks for sustainable carbon removal.
Analyst QuickTake: This partnership follows NEG8 Carbon’s collaboration with Deep Sky, a Canadian carbon removal project developer, to install and test its modular DAC technology in Canada in February 2024 , setting the stage for its first pilot project.
