Joby showcases electric eVTOL at Farnborough International Airshow

Product updates

  • Joby Aviation, an NYSE-listed eVTOL developer, displayed its electric air taxi in Europe for the first time at the Farnborough International Airshow 2024.

  • The eVTOL aircraft, which had been developing for a decade, commenced production in June 2023 . It is a four-passenger aircraft with six tilting rotors for lift and thrust. The eVTOL is claimed to have a range of 100 mi on a single charge and generate noise levels ~100x lower than those of a helicopter.

  • Joby's aircraft is reportedly the first eVTOL that received its certification plans approval from the FAA in February 2024 , and it is currently working toward full approval, with type certification expected by 2025.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Along with its first display in Europe, Joby has recently undertaken efforts to expand its presence and operations to the UAE and Saudi Arabia , and it also acquired a manufacturing facility in Ohio .
