SpaceX, a space travel and launch company, was awarded a ~USD 113 million contract from NASA to provide launch services for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) 4 mission.
The contract's valuation includes launch services and other mission-related costs. The JPSS-4 mission, a collaboration between the NOAA and NASA, is targeting to launch in 2027 on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base in California.
Analyst QuickTake: This latest collaboration adds to NASA and SpaceX's previous partnerships in space exploration missions—including SpaceX recently being selected for the Mars Sample Return (MSR) mission—to develop the deorbit vehicle for the ISS and as the lunar lander for NASA's Artemis 3 mission.
