Skytree, a Netherlands-based developer of decentralized direct air capture (DAC) systems for Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA), has partnered with Finnish electronics manufacturing service provider Scanfil to manufacture its DAC units.
Under the partnership, Scanfil will manufacture Skytree's small Cumulus unit, which captures 30 kg of CO2 per day in the US, and the larger Stratus unit, which captures 1,000 kg of CO2 per day in the US and Europe.
The collaboration aims to optimize production, ensure quality standards, and accelerate the time to market for new DAC units by leveraging Scanfil's experience in the energy and cleantech industry and its manufacturing capabilities in Finland and the US.
Analyst QuickTake: In July 2024 , Skytree launched its Stratus Hub for modular DAC deployment. The Hub can capture 10,000 to over 1 million tons of CO2 per year per site, allowing for incremental scale-up. In March 2024 , the company launched its Skytree Stratus decentralized DAC unit, following the launch of Skytree Cumulus, its smaller and first decentralized DAC unit, in September 2023 .
