ABL Space Systems downsizes workforce due to rocket failures

Management news

  • ABL Space Systems, a launch services provider, has laid off an undisclosed number of employees at the end of August 2024.

  • The company announced that it downsized its staff due to consecutive rocket failures. In January 2023 , its RS1 rocket failed on its maiden flight, followed by a failed launch in July 2024 , when its second RS1 rocket was damaged in a pre-flight static fire test.

  • ABL Space Systems raised over USD 40 million in funding in January 2024, bringing its total funding to USD 470 million since 2017, and will focus on its next rocket production and flight with a small team and moderate financing.
