BlackSky Technology, a geospatial intelligence provider, has partnered with HEO, a non-Earth imaging company, to offer automated low-latency non-Earth imaging (NEI) services.
The undisclosed seven-figure contract involves integrating BlackSky's constellation into HEO's NEI sensor network, focusing on automating the tasking-to-delivery process. BlackSky will provide mid-inclination orbit and high-resolution imagery to enhance NEI data collection over Earth's middle latitudes. The partnership aims to improve space situational awareness by offering real-time monitoring and intelligence about spacecraft and on-orbit objects.
Customers can request NEI products through HEO's automated “HEO Inspect” platform. The system will automatically find imaging opportunities, task BlackSky's satellites, and generate advanced analytics reports including satellite attitude, location, and pattern-of-life analyses.
Analyst QuickTake: BlackSky is expanding its offering of satellite imaging data for Earth and non-Earth applications. The company received a USD 476 million NASA contract in September 2024 to provide satellite imagery for Earth observation research under NASA's Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition Program (CSDAP).
