Xona Space Systems, a California-based positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) services provider, has opened its first international office in Montréal, Canada. This expansion comes as the company prepares to deploy its first small navigation satellite in low-Earth orbit (LEO) next year, as part of a proposed constellation of 250–300 satellites for a commercial PNT service.
The expansion to Canada is driven by the need to scale up manufacturing and customer service operations more efficiently. The Montréal office will primarily focus on developing user equipment for Xona's Pulsar PNT service, with potential plans to expand manufacturing operations for PNT payloads to Canada.
Xona's first satellite is set to launch on SpaceX's Falcon 9 Transporter 14 rideshare mission in June 2025, with Aerospacelab producing the satellite platform. The company has seen significant growth, doubling the value of customer contracts in the past six months and aiming to increase its workforce from 35 to 50 employees by 2025.
