Impulse Space, an orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) developer, has secured a USD 34.5 million contract from the US Space Force (USSF) and Defense Innovation Unit.
The contract, awarded under a Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase 3 agreement, involves deploying two orbital transfer vehicles for space surveillance missions in 2026. One mission will be launched to low-Earth orbit, while the other will go to geosynchronous transfer orbit.
The missions, named Victus Surgo and Victus Salo, are part of the USSF's Tactically Responsive Space program. They aim to enhance US military capabilities in space domain awareness using Impulse Space's Mira and Helios vehicles.
Analyst QuickTake: This USSF contract comes right after Impulse Space secured USD 150 million in a Series B funding round in October 2024 to advance the development of its two OTVs, Helios and Mira. Impulse Space also recently partnered with Exolaunch and Space Network Services for its geostationary rideshare missions.
