Firefly Aerospace, a space transportation company, and True Anomaly, a space defense technology firm, have partnered for rapid-response space launches.
The partnership includes a multi-launch agreement for three missions using Firefly's Alpha rocket. The first mission, scheduled for 2025, will launch True Anomaly's Jackal Autonomous Orbital Vehicle for the US Space Force's VICTUS HAZE Tactically Responsive Space mission. The mission will require a 24-hour launch readiness, demonstrating rapid-response capabilities for orbital operations.
The collaboration builds on Firefly's previous experience with the Space Force's VICTUS NOX mission in September 2023 . It aims to strengthen both companies' positions in the military's rapid-response space operations sector, with provisions for two additional missions between 2025 and 2027.
Analyst QuickTake: Firefly Aerospace signed a multi-launch agreement with L3Harris Technologies in August 2024 for 20 launches on the Alpha rocket, including two to four missions per year from 2027 to 2031. Firefly also recently partnered with NASA to provide launch services for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's QuickSounder mission under the VADR contract.
