Xolo launches Xell volumetric bioprinter for researchers

Product updates

  • Xolo, a Berlin-based 3D printer manufacturer, has launched Xell, a volumetric bioprinter for research laboratories.

  • Priced at EUR 20,000 (~ USD 21,200), Xell features a 10 x 17 x 10 mm³ build volume, full HD resolution, high-intensity LED light sheet, and sealed disposable cuvettes. The printer is compatible with Xolo's bio-inks portfolio and offers plug-and-play functionality.

  • According to Xolo, the compact bioprinter enables researchers to create advanced biomaterials with isotropic properties and smooth surfaces, conduct proof of concept studies without high upfront costs, and later scale up to more advanced systems like the Xube² 3D printer.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Leading up to this new launch, Xolo has also been actively taking steps to expand the list of supported biomaterials for its volumetric 3D printers. In September, the company entered a co-branding agreement with Rousselot, Darling Ingredients' collagen and gelatin brand, to integrate the latter's X-Pure GelMA solution into its bioinks for volumetric 3D printers.
