Future Publishing partners with OpenAI to provide media content for ChatGPT

Partnerships

  • Future Publishing, owner of over 200 media brands including PC Gamer and GamesRadar, has partnered with OpenAI to integrate content into ChatGPT's knowledge base.

  • The strategic partnership allows ChatGPT users to access content from Future's publications with proper attribution and links to original articles. The collaboration extends to deploying chatbots on Future's websites and using OpenAI tools across sales, marketing, and editorial divisions to improve productivity.

  • Analyst QuickTake: The partnership emerges amid ongoing legal challenges from other publishers, including Canadian news outlets and the New York Times, who have sued OpenAI for allegedly using their content without permission to train AI models. However, by integrating specialist content from Future's diverse media brands OpenAI aims to provide users with a richer and more engaging experience. This collaboration mirrors similar partnerships OpenAI has established with other news publishers like Hearst, Condé Nast, and News Corp , which also sought to leverage trusted journalism to improve the quality of information accessible.
