Daxbot, Nova Dynamics’ last-mile delivery droid unit, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on StartEngine to raise a maximum of USD 1.07 million (minimum of USD 10,000) at a valuation of USD 37.3 million. This marks the company’s first funding round.
The company intends to utilize the funds to expand the number of robot units and geographical coverage to include 10 US cities by 2022.
The filing reports that the company has conducted delivery trials in Philomath, Oregon upon receiving the approval for trials on public roads from the city council in 2017. It is currently launching restaurant deliveries for customers in Coronado, Georgia and Washington. It is also reported that the company is in talks with more potential clients in Washington, Houston, Los Angeles, and Baltimore.

Analyst QuickTake: Daxbot is a smaller startup in terms of funding and operations and its move of opting for crowdfunding is very similar to Kiwibot (another small-scale droid developer) launching a USD 1 million campaign via Wefunder in August 2020.
