Skyports to bring medical drone deliveries to Colombia in a JV with Irelandia Aviation

Geographic expansion

 • UK-based drone logistics company Skyports has created a joint venture (JV) with low-cost carrier Irelandia Aviation, to start drone-based medical delivery trials in Colombia starting mid-2022, with plans to expand the service to wider Latin America in the future.

 • The initial trials will be conducted in remote areas of the country including La Guajira and Choco, carrying critical health supplies.

Analyst QuickTake: The news follows successful trials Skyports conducted in Ireland, Scotland, and the UK in partnership with organizations including UK’s National Health Services, FedEx, and Swoop Areo in the recent past. Skyports appears to be the first US/Europe-based drone logistics company to have entered the Latin American market. The company first announced plans to expand the service across Europe and Americas this August, extending its initial partnership with Swoop Aero.
