Clearview AI, a developer of facial recognition-based solutions for law enforcement, has announced that it has achieved number one status in the one-to-many facial verification category in the facial recognition vendor test (FRVT) conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The company also ranked among the top ten globally.
The one-to-many test measures the facial recognition algorithm’s ability to match a photo from a gallery of images.

Analyst QuickTake: The one-to-many category is the most used facial verification technique for law enforcement as it involves matching photos with a gallery of images. Reportedly, Clearview AI has a database of more than 10 billion images it has scraped from the internet. Despite claims on privacy and accuracy, the company continues to expand by improving its technology, which is further validated by the NIST test results.
