Flytrex gains FAA approval to expand delivery radius to one mile in North Carolina

Regulation/policy

 • Flytrex, an Israeli drone delivery company, has gained Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval for drone deliveries with a range of up to one nautical mile in North Carolina, which expands its reach to approximately 10,000 households in the state.

 • With this approval, Flytrex will be permitted to fly its drones over people and moving vehicles within a 1-nautical-mile radius of its operating stations in Fayetteville, Raeford, and Holly Springs. Deliveries will continue to be made in cooperation with its partner Causey Aviation Unmanned (drone delivery operator).

Analyst QuickTake: Earlier this year , Flytrex received approval from the FAA to operate over people; however, the flights had to be conducted within the visual line of sight (VLOS). Moreover, the current approval should support Flytrex’s goal of expanding its operations in the US, a goal that the company plans to invest part of the USD 40 million in funding it raised last month.
