Nikola Motor Company (Nikola), a developer of heavy-duty battery electric vehicles (BEV) and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEV), has signed a letter of intent with Covenant Logistics Group, a transportation services provider, to supply 10 “Nikola Tre” BEV trucks and 40 Nikola Tre FCEV trucks, depending on the success of the demonstrations.
The company plans to deliver the first BEV truck and a mobile charging trailer in Q2 2022, and the FCEV truck in 2023 for testing.

Analyst QuickTake: This agreement enhances Nikola’s rapidly growing BEV and FCEV order book. The company announced deals with Saia and USA Truck just last week to supply up to 200 BEV trucks. We notice, not only Covenant Logistics but also Total Transportation have ordered both BEV and FCEV trucks from Nikola in the recent past, while most of the other orders are for one type of truck.
