Serve Robotics, a spin-off from Uber that operates delivery droids, has completed its first delivery at Level 4 autonomy (i.e., fully autonomous but limited to specific locations or conditions), marking the industry’s first delivery to occur at that level of autonomy.
The technology incorporated in the droid includes ultrasonics and LiDAR sensors from Ouster, and artificial intelligence (AI)-based computing from NVIDIA to detect the surroundings in real-time. Other features include automatic crash prevention, vehicle collision avoidance, and emergency braking technologies.
