Online food delivery platforms Foodpanda (Delivery Hero brand) and Deliveroo are under investigation by the Competition Commission in Hong Kong for imposing exclusivity restrictions on their partner restaurants.
The Commission is looking into the two platforms that also allegedly strong-arm partner restaurants to price food at lower or equal prices than those offered on the restaurants’ menus and on other delivery platforms. Local restaurants have been approached and encouraged by the Commission to fill a questionnaire to the same effect by February 11, 2022, available on its website.
<ul><li>Foodpanda’s parent company Delivery Hero faced a similar situation in Norway earlier this month , where it came to an agreement to end its exclusive arrangements with restaurants until 2025, as it was considered anti-competitive.</ul>
