SuperMeat, a cellular agriculture startup developing cultured chicken meat, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with PHW Group, one of the largest poultry producers in Europe, to supply cultivated meat products including chicken, turkey, and duck to the European market.
According to the MoU, both companies will work together to obtain regulatory approval for their cultivated meat products in the EU. They will reportedly be the first to develop, manufacture, and distribute cultivated meat products on a large scale to the European market.
<ul><li> Analyst QuickTake: SuperMeat has been taking necessary steps to accelerate the commercialization of cultivated meat products. This announcement follows its partnership with PHW in January 2018 where the latter provided R&D and strategic positioning support for the former’s products in Europe. SuperMeat also partnered with Ajinomoto in March this year to set up a joint venture to accelerate the commercialization of cultivated meat products and to develop cost-competitive cell-growth media.</ul>
