Flytrex, an Israeli drone-based delivery company, has expanded its operations to pilot drone-based deliveries in Granbury in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas by extending its partnership with Brinker International, the restaurant conglomerate that operates chains and virtual brands including Chili’s, Maggiano’s Little Italy, and It’s Just Wings.

The customers of these restaurants in the area can place orders via Flytrex’s app, upon which the food will be delivered to residents within one nautical mile, under the recently granted Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) waiver.

The flights will be overseen by Flytrex’s long-term drone delivery operator Causey Aviation Unmanned.

Analyst QuickTake: The news comes just four months after Flytrex raised USD 40 million in Series C funding, partially for the purpose of expanding its geographical reach. The company first partnered with Brinker International last October to make deliveries from the latter’s restaurants in Holly Springs, North Carolina—the state where the company’s primary operations are. Furthermore, Flytrex is not the only company to have tapped Texas for drone-based delivery operations. In fact, peer startup DroneUp, and Google’s drone delivery arm Wing have also conducted drone-based deliveries in the state in partnership with retailers.
