Optibus, a mobility planning and management platform specializing in city-based bus travel, acquired Trillium, a multimodal mobility information platform, for an undisclosed amount. Trillium will operate as a subsidiary of Optibus, absorbing 350+ clients and 25 employees.
Founded in 2007, Trillium provides solutions for transit operators and public agencies by providing real-time transit data, interactive maps, and transit websites to provide riders with real-time transit information and alerts. The firm claims to be the first to offer a SaaS solution for General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) management, which has become a global standard for transit data. The firm also provides consultancy services for transit planning and technology integrations. Trillium’s clients include 350+ US transit agencies and operators including the Port Authority of New York, Anaheim Resort Transportation, San Francisco Bay Ferry, and departments of transportation (DoTs) in Massachusetts, Oregon, and Colorado.
The acquisition is expected to broaden Optibus’s service offering and grow its presence in North America. Optibus claims the acquisition will help achieve its vision of becoming an all-encompassing, end-to-end platform for daily transportation operations.
