44.01 partners with Mission Zero Technologies for Project Hajar

Partnerships

 • 44.01, an Omani carbon mineralization startup, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Mission Zero Technologies, a British DAC startup, to deploy their first DAC and mineralization project known as “Project Hajar.”

 • Project Hajar is an integration of Mission Zero’s modular DAC technology and 44.01’s mineralization technology to permanently remove 1,000 tons of CO2 per year.

 • The project will be deployed in the Al Hajar mountains of Oman and is expected to be operational in 2024.

Analyst QuickTake: 44.01 states that Oman’s geology suits CO2 sequestration through the natural process of mineralization in peridotite. CO2 reacts with peridotite rocks and precipitates carbonates, thereby permanently removing emissions in geological carbon sinks. The company had previously partnered with DAC provider Climeworks to explore carbon storage in Oman.
