Neon, a serverless Postgres database solution provider, has launched Neon Authorize, a new solution for managing database permissions and access controls.
The solution integrates with existing authentication providers and uses PostgreSQL Row-Level Security (RLS) for enhanced data protection. It allows developers to connect their authentication provider, use JSON Web Tokens (JWT) for database call authentication, and build client-side applications without a server. This system ensures data safety from malicious actors, even with third-party access.
Analyst QuickTake: This follows Neon’s USD 25 million strategic funding round from Microsoft in August 2024, which was earmarked for developing new database capabilities, expanding into Microsoft Azure, and recruitment. Neon Authorize aims to differentiate Neon from other serverless Postgres database providers by offering a balanced security and flexibility tailored for modern applications.
