Monta, a Denmark-based EV charging service provider, has developed an all-encompassing software solution designed to cater to the entire EV charging ecosystem, ranging from drivers and businesses to industry partners. Monta's platform can streamline the deployment, utilization, and management of EV charging infrastructure, thereby simplifying operations for businesses and offering enhanced charging experiences for drivers. Monta Hub. The company’s Monta Hub solution is both flexible and scalable, enabling it to support over 450 charger models and facilitate access to more than 500,000 charging points globally​​​​. 

In March 2024, Monta in partnership with Grid Beyond, unveiled its grid services technology ‘PowerBank’ to support the UK grid. The solution detects imbalances in the electrical grid and pauses current EV charging sessions to help prevent power blackouts.

Monta is present in over 20 European countries and in November 2023, reported plans to open a European hub in Barcelona, Spain.

Key customers and partnerships

Monta has nearly 750 industry partners as of January 2024 and has established an extensive roaming network that spans over 500,000 charge points providing over one million monthly charging sessions. The company’s EV charging management platform is used by notable utility, aviation, and transportation industry companies including Vestas, CPH Airport, and PostNord.

In June 2022, Monta partnered with Zaptec to provide charge points that are ready to use with Monta’s software. In February 2023, Monta partnered with evec to provide power to the latter’s EV chargers with Monta’s solution. During the same month, the company partnered with Rolec EV to deliver over 20,000 charge points across the UK. In May 2023, Monta partnered with Egg to create a commercial charging solution in the UK to deliver 500 commercial installs in 2023. In September 2023, Monta partnered with Siemens to provide the latter with its Charge Point Management System (CPMS) for e-mobility services for corporate fleet and facility management. The company has also formed partnerships with Garo, CTEK, ABB and Autel.

Funding and financials

In January 2024 , Monta raised EUR 80 million (~USD 86 million) in a Series B funding round led by Energize Capita. The company intended to expand EV charging points in the UK by 80% using the new funding. Monta also planned to double its UK team to support its future initiatives. Prior to this, in September 2022, Monta raised EUR 30 million (~USD 32.4 million) as part of a Series A+ round led by Energize Ventures.
