Spheroid Universe

Spheroid Universe is a developer of multiple XR-based solutions, including a platform for XR project development using the Spheroid XR Cloud and the Spheroid Script programming language. Spheroid Script is designed to create AR applications on mobile devices, and, in 2023, the company launched Spheroid Script 3.0, which provided improved AR/VR mechanics. The company also developed Spheroid Warp, its no-code XR platform for advertising in August 2022. The platform provides advertisers with the ability to place AR content in real-world environments. The advertisements are placed on Spheroid Spaces, which users can purchase for USD 1 per space or through the platform's SPH token. The Spaces can also be leased or traded and are sold in 54 countries with 510,000 Spaces sold so far. An “Expansion” mechanic allows users to expand their zone of influence without owning the entire area and earn commissions when Spaces in their Expansion zone are sold. It also offers Spheroid.Earth, a community-based project aimed at building a digital 3D map of Earth, which is linked to its Spaces NFT. In April 2023 , the company added AI avatars to Spheroid Spaces, integrated with ChatGPT.

Other platforms include Spheroid Demiurge IDE, a cloud-based integrated development environment that enables programmers to collaborate on AR/XR projects. In September 2020, the Demiurge Store was launched, which consists of a store that provides various applications, assets, and plugins, including the Unity Exporter, Figma, and Sketchfab. In August 2020, the company launched its mobile app XR Hub, built using the company’s Spheroid AR Engine, which offers the ability to run other AR/VR apps within the hub or function independently. From a user's standpoint, the XR Hub is similar to a social network, where users can create and fill their own digital world by subscribing to interactive XR worlds that are generated by the community.

The Spheroid Universe platform generates revenue through sales of Spaces on the primary market and commissions on transactions between advertisers and Space Owners.

Partners include blockchain network Kusama (uses the Spheroid Universe XR Cloud to provide an AR journey through the Kusama Network at Vancouver Biennale).

Funding and financials

In February 2023, Spheroid Universe raised USD 25 million in funding from ABO Digital. Funds were earmarked to scale Spheroid Universe’s infrastructure, with the company developing its Spheroid Script software, a cross-platform programming language for the creation of AR and XR applications alongside Spheroid Demiurge IDE, a cloud-based development environment for AR and XR projects.
