Based in Germany, Xolo develops 3D printing systems targeting the optical applications, bioprinting, dental, and acoustics industries. It uses xolography, a volumetric 3D materializing technology based on dual-color photoinitiators, which enables the production of intricate components with smooth surfaces. xolo’s printer system “The xube,” can print parts with a build volume of 30x50x50 mm using compatible acrylics including soft hydrogels and urethanes. The company claims that it uses materials that have never been used for 3D printing.
As reported in February 2023, xolo’s printing tech was being used by researchers, with plans to introduce it to industrial purposes targeting the optics and biomaterials industries.
Key customers and partnerships
In September 2024, xolo entered into a co-branding agreement with Rousselot, Darling Ingredients' collagen and gelatin brand, to integrate the latter's X-Pure GelMA solution into its bio-inks for volumetric 3D printers. The partnership aims to allow users to produce stable and reproducible prints that support cell growth in bio-inks.
In October 2024, xolo partnered with Swarovski to develop volumetric 3D printing technology for crystal glass. As part of this partnership, xolo was to employ its xolography technology to process transparent glass materials in line with Swarovski’s standards.
