Founded in 2013, Securly is a student safety and device management software provider. Using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML), Securly identifies when children are involved in harmful and unacceptable behavior by monitoring internet usage, social media, content (such as videos, emails, online documents and drives) and anonymous tips. Securly has expanded its focus to cover classroom and device management as well. The platform also contains a parent portal, where parents can set up filters for browsing and social media activity. In March 2021, Securly was acquired by private equity investment firm Golden Gate Capital. As of March 2021, Securly served more than 10 million students globally across 2,500 K-12 school districts—more than 10% of US public school districts. The company reports that its early warning system has helped save more than 1,200 student lives since 2017.
In September and October 2020, Securly announced partnerships with ClassLink and Clever, both of which provide single sign-on (SSO) portals allowing a simplified login process and roster synchronization.
In March 2021, the company released multi-language support for Securly Home, its app that gives parents more insight into and control over the use of school devices at home. When the app is updated, Securly Home will match the default language on a user’s device. The first language added is Spanish, with other languages to follow.
In March 2022, the company acquired Dyknow, a classroom management monitoring solution, allowing Securly to integrate with Dyknow’s product portfolio to expand its product capabilities under a single unified interface. The company also plans to invest in expanding Dyknow’s Device Impact Measurement solution. A month later, the company acquired Rhithm, a student wellness solution provider, allowing Securly to integrate Rhithm’s proprietary wellness platform with its classroom management offering and deliver an end-to-end solution that focuses on student well-being. More recently, in November 2022, the firm acquired Eduspire Solutions, a digital hall pass solution provider, to create a comprehensive solution that facilitates student safety from online to on-campus and increases student wellness support for K-12 districts and schools.
