MoEngage is a multichannel campaign automation platform that provides insights on customer preferences, allowing users to conduct marketing campaigns at scale across mobile, email. message, web and social media. The platform’s features include customer journey orchestration, customer profiling & segmentation, ad personalization and customer insights and recommendations. In September 2021, the firm further enhanced its customer insights capabilities with the introduction of “Sherpa”, a proprietary AI and ML-powered marketing predictions platform, to forecast customer actions, provide recommendations and optimize marketing content. In May 2022, the firm extended its channel offerings to include WhatsApp Business Integration to enable users to gather customer insights and run personalized WhatsApp campaigns. MoEngage’s edge over its peers is in building its platform with mobile phone users in mind, where it can provide insights on how customers engage with apps and websites to deliver personalized engagement with mobile text messaging, in-app messaging, and push notifications. MoEngage follows a customer-centric approach, for instance, launching a strategic customer advisory board (CAB) in November 2021, where the firm's top enterprise customers across different sectors would provide insights on MoEngage’s product development.

Key customers and partnerships

As of January 2022, the firm has 900 million+ monthly active users across 35 countries and serves more than a 1,000 brands, including McAfee, Nestle, Samsung and Domino’s Pizza.

In March 2024, MoEngage partnered with Artefact MENA, a data consulting and marketing services provider, to support global businesses leveraging AI and data-driven strategies to become more customer-centric. In February 2024, the company partnered with Kaleyra, a CPaaS company based in Italy, to deliver personalized omnichannel experiences to global customers via WhatsApp and SMS. In November 2023, MoEngage partnered with ValueFirst , a CPaaS company based in India, to to deliver an enhanced customer engagement experience across multiple messaging channels. In March 2022, the firm entered into a strategic partnership with e-CENS , a data science consultancy service to grow its presence in the Middle East.  

Funding and financials

In May 2022, the firm raised USD 77 million in series E funding led by Goldman Sachs and B Capital where it was expected to have received a post-money valuation of ~USD 700 million .  The firm planned to use the funding for its global expansion and to execute on strategic acquisitions. Prior to that, MoEngage raised USD 30 million in Series D funding in December 2021 led by Steadyview Capital. This followed 4 months after its Series C funding round where it raised USD 32.5 million with a post-money valuation of USD 300 -350 million. 

The firm also reported a revenue of ~USD 10.8 million (17% YoY growth) and a loss of ~USD 330,000 (3.7% YoY growth) in 2021.
