Cohesity offers a cloud data management platform for securing and managing enterprise data. The platform eliminates data silos, providing users access to data stored in data centers, edge sites, and public cloud environments. It also incorporates zero-trust features, such as encryption and role-based access control, along with ML- and AI-powered threat detection and recommendations to protect data. The platform also provides backup and recovery for traditional and modern data sources and ensures business continuity with automated failover and failback orchestration for mission-critical workloads.

Cohesity offers its platform as a managed service—either through Cohesity directly or via one of its partners—or as a self-managed platform on private or public cloud platforms. The platform caters to enterprises in multiple industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, retail, utilities, and media. The company operates through a usage-based SaaS model.

In February 2024, Cohesity announced plans to acquire the data protection arm of Veritas, which specializes in multi-cloud and on-premises data security, for USD 3 billion. The deal was expected to close by the end of 2024, subject to regulatory approval. The merged companies will reportedly operate as a single entity under the Cohesity name, with the combined company expected to exceed USD 7 billion in value, with USD 1.6 billion in revenues, including USD 1.3 billion in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and a 27% profit margin.

Key customers and partnerships

As of September 2024, Cohesity served over 4,300 customers, including five of the Fortune 10 companies and seven of the top 20 US banks. Its notable customers include Nasdaq, AutoNation, California Department of Finance, Nationwide, Siemens, and Cisco.

Cohesity has formed multiple partnerships with other technology companies to enhance its platform and offer new solutions. It teamed up with Infosys to provide a data-resiliency-as-a-service solution as part of Infosys Cobalt and with Hewlett Packard Enterprises to improve the security and management of enterprise data.
