Evil Geniuses (EG) is one of the oldest running professional esports organizations globally, with more than USD 24 million in prize winnings. EG fields rosters in Dota 2, Valorant, CS:GO, and League of Legends. It launched “The Creator Collective” in August 2021, a project involving a dedicated group of streams and content creators, as part of its strategy to strengthen content generation and fan engagement. Its partner portfolio includes brands such as Twitch, Monster Energy, Bud Light, and Coinbase. Founded in 1999, EG was acquired by Chicago-based PEAK6 Investments in May 2019; it was formerly a subsidiary of GoodGame Agency which was owned by Amazon through its division Twitch.
EG partnered with a Premier League football club, the Wolverhampton Wanderers (Wolves), in July 2021. It was further revealed that Fosun Sports Group (FSG), owner of the Wolves, has made an undisclosed minority investment in EG. The investment reportedly values the esports organization at USD 255 million.
The partnership is expected to support EG’s global expansion, including the Asian market, by leveraging the club's expertise and local training facilities in the region. EG also plans to use the new capital to acquire players and enter into new esports titles. As a result of the deal, the Wolves’ branding is expected to feature on EG’s player jerseys, and both companies plan to collaborate on merchandise, content, and sponsorship opportunities.
