NuEyes is a smart glass technology company that aims to help individuals with eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa. The company also provides AR products that cater to various markets, including the medical, enterprise, and entertainment sectors. The company’s latest product is the NuLoupes (announced in April 2023, priced at USD 5,000), a smart glass focused on surgical use. The product utilizes a patent-pending dual 48 megapixel camera to provide real-time 3D stereoscopic imaging with accurate sub-millimeter depth perception. NuLoupes comes with an array of AR applications and content that are customized to aid clinicians in their work, including features such as object recognition, surgical and dental navigation, dictation, and operative notes. The product gained FDA approval in December 2023.

Previous products launched included:

1) The PRO 3e glasses (launched in April 2021, priced at USD 3,895), weighing 68 grams, retails at USD 499, with its primary use cases being in entertainment and gaming. The glasses require smartphone connectivity to project images onto a virtual 143” screen, backed by a 1920x1080 75Hz display and stereo speakers. The company’s e2+ product, priced at USD 2,795 is a wireless headset weighing 268 grams, catered toward the visually impaired. Key features include a 4K display at a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a 101° field of view, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 3 degrees of freedom tracking, three- to five-hour battery life alongside OCR/Text to speech capabilities, and variable magnification up to 18x.

2) The Pro 3 AR glasses (launched in December 2020), weighing 130 grams, catered to visually impaired users. Key features include a 4K Binocular OLED display, 52° field of view with the option of adding prescription lenses, a 13 megapixel camera, and 5G connectivity.

Key customers and partnerships

Partnerships include that with Samsung (August 2022, to deliver healthcare solutions using Samsung-connected devices with smart glasses from NuEyes), Unity (May 2022, to provide Unity’s XR solutions for developers and users on the Pro 3 AR smart glass product line), and TMobile (November 2021, for 5G connectivity for NuEyes’ AR glasses).

Other partnerships include that withMedtronic to provide 3D step-by-step directions to visually impaired users and Dolphin Medical Imaging to create a wireless ultrasound probe powered by Samsung devices to help practitioners with point-of-care diagnostics.
