Founded in Slovakia, Innovatrics offers biometric solutions (such as APIS and SDKs) based on face, fingerprint, and iris. The software is able to detect and track faces from multiple video streams without compromising on speed and accuracy, send alerts when required, estimate age and gender, and can be used with a wide range of IP cameras and server platforms. Innovatrics' facial recognition technology is also embedded in system-on-a-chip (SoC) processors by Ambarella , a provider of SoCs developed based on computer vision architecture to enable face detection directly on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices. In January 2023, Innovatrics launched SmartFace Embedded, incorporating edge processing capabilities to its facial recognition platform SmartFace. This was made available as an SDK in March 2023, simplifying the development of embedded face recognition solutions.
Innovatrics facial recognition technology was named the most accurate in the world in the wild face category in March 2019 in the NIST Face Recognition Vendor Test. In 2018, it introduced Digital Onboarding Toolkit (DOT), which enabled online verification of customers. The customer needs to send a photo of the ID along with a selfie, which will be verified through the DOT virtually. To complement this, the company also introduced passive liveness detection capability in August 2020, which operates locally (no requirement for internet), making it one of the few companies to offer this service. In May 2022, Innovatrics introduced semi-active liveness detection, a method that requires users to smile into the camera for remote verifications, further improving accuracy.
Key customers and partnerships
The company has entered partnerships with several companies including PosAm (November 2020) and IT companies in Slovakia to integrate Innovatrics’ DOT with PosAm’s mID mobile application to allow Slovakian citizens to complete the authentication process through a smartphone when obtaining government services and Coppernic (December 2021), a French electronics manufacturer, to supply biometric algorithms to improve Coppernic's biometric capture devices. In May 2022, the company also partnered with edge computing solutions provider Blaize to develop ready-to-use facial recognition solutions for access control and public security.
In October 2023 , Innovatrics partnered with Nedap, a provider of physical access control and management, to integrate facial biometrics technology into the AEOS Locker Management system and eliminate the need for keys, key fobs, or personal identification numbers (PINs).
