Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) is a multinational manufacturer and seller of networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment, and training and advisory services. It is a Fortune 500 company and the largest networking hardware manufacturer globally (2022). Cisco Systems (commonly referred to as Cisco) was incorporated in California in 1984 and was later reincorporated in Delaware in 2021. The company was publicly listed on the Nasdaq exchange in 1990. Key acquisitions include 1) WebEx, acquired in 2007 for USD 3.2 billion, to expand into web conferencing and 2) Jasper, acquired in 2016 for USD 1.4 billion, to create the company’s IoT cloud business. Cisco generated a revenue of USD 51.6 billion in FY2022 (year ended July 31st). 

Cisco offers a wide range of IT-based networking solutions to enterprises, public institutions, and governments, primarily in the form of subscriptions and perpetual licenses. The company's products encompass networking technologies such as switches, enterprise routing, optical networking, 5G, as well as Communication Platform as a Service (CPaaS). Service offerings include training and certifications, advisory solutions, and technical support services. Other solutions include network and cloud security platforms and IT infrastructure management solutions. 

Cisco derived ~52% of its total revenue in 2022 from the US, accounting for USD 26.7 billion in revenue. From a regional perspective, the Americas region accounted for ~58% of revenue, followed by EMEA, which accounted for ~27% of revenue.

Cisco’s “as-a-service” strategy seeks to advance its Cisco Plus platform, a hybrid cloud service combining data center compute, networking, and storage capabilities. Cisco plans to achieve net zero emissions across its value chain by 2040.
