Swiftly is a public transit data platform with solutions for city municipalities and transport authorities for transit planning, operations management, and customer service. The platform has a number of solutions, including 1) Transitime, an information platform providing predictions on commuter movements for operators and real-time alerts for commuters via digital signage, mobile, Twitter, and SMS; 2) Metronome, which provides real-time information to transit operators on vehicle locations, early and late vehicles as well as an onboard app to update drivers in real-time; 3) tools for analyzing historical transit data for planning and scheduling; and 4) Headsign Connector, an automated solution launched in January 2023 to provide commuters with accurate, up-to-date route information.

Swiftly distinguishes itself by being “hardware agnostic,” where its transit platform can be integrated with popular mobility data-gathering infrastructures such as GTFS, Transxchange, CAD/AVL as well as onboard hardware like tablets and displays that run on standard Android and iOS interfaces. The firm claims that its platform is 30% more accurate than existing systems with respect to predicting passenger and vehicle arrival times.

In December 2021, Swiftly integrated its service adjustments feature (allows operators to make real-time adjustments including trip cancellations and additions, stop closures and detours, along with changes to departure times) with its rider alerts product (notifies customers in real-time of any updates).

Key customers and partnerships

As of March 2022, Swiftly’s platform was being used by 5,500+ transit professionals in 100+ cities, including Maryland, Baltimore, Vermont, and San Joaquin.

In July 2024, Swiftly partnered with County Connection, a provider of transportation services of Contra Costa County, to offer Swiftly’s performance insights for enhancing on-time performance and providing data for decision-making. In August 2024, the company partnered with Cambridge Systematics (CS), a provider of technology for transportation, to integrate services and enhance transit customer experience solutions.
