Abbot's Butcher is a plant-based meat startup that produces chicken, beef, and pork alternatives using pea proteins. The company uses yellow peas as the base of its products and supplements it with olive oil, vinegar, red wine, herbs, spices, sea salt, and vegetables to create a sauce around the meat that can be mixed in with other foods to create mixed dishes. Abbot's technology leverages a low-heat, enzymatic isolation process that protects the protein in its base ingredient but removes almost all of the phytates, lectins, and trypsin inhibitors, leaving a very high-protein, low-carb, low-fat product.
In March 2024, the company expanded its protein-rich product range with Whole Burger, an all-natural, high-protein, plant-based burger that is non-GMO Project-verified and vegan-certified.
Key Partnerships
In January 2023, the company partnered with fast-casual health food chain Protein Bar and Kitchen (PBK) to supply the company’s Chopped Chick’n product for vegan menu items in PBK’s dedicated vegan menu.
In April 2023, Abbot's Butcher partnered with Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistribution company in North America, to distribute its products across all 50 US states. With this partnership, Abbot's products will be available for food service nationwide for the first time.
