Serve Robotics partners with Uber to bring autonomous food deliveries to LA

Partnerships

Serve Robotics, a delivery droid operator spun off from Uber in January this year, has partnered with the same to bring on-demand food delivery to Uber Eats customers, starting from Los Angeles in early 2022.

 • This marks Serve Robotics’ first partnership for commercial deployment, following “tens of thousands” of trial deliveries in major US cities, including West Hollywood, California.

Analyst QuickTake: Prior to this partnership, Uber participated in Serve Robotics’ seed funding round held in March, and also retained a 25% ownership stake in the company when the unit was spun off. Los Angeles has been a popular destination for food ordering apps to pilot autonomous deliveries. Ottonomy IO partnered with a local food ordering app to pilot food deliveries in the city last week, while other peer startups including Kiwibot, Tortoise, and Coco Robotics have also conducted droid-based deliveries in the area.
