Impossible Foods launches new range of frozen meals

Product updates

 • Impossible Foods, a California-based leading producer of plant-based meat alternatives, announced that it will be launching a new range of single-serve frozen vegan meal bowls—featuring Impossible’s chicken, beef, and pork—beginning this month at across 4,000 Walmart locations.

 • The frozen meals will come in 9 oz bowls and can be ready-to-eat in five minutes or less. The company claims each bowl will contain between 10 g and 13 g of protein, 3 g or less of saturated fat, and zero cholesterol.

 • The American and Asian meals (Sweet & Sour Impossible Pork, Teriyaki Impossible Chicken, Chili Mac with Impossible Pork, Barbeque Impossible Pork) will launch this month, while the Italian and Latin-inspired flavors (Spaghetti & Impossible Meatballs, Pasta Bolognese with Impossible Beef & Pork, Burrito Bowl with Impossible Beef, Spice Enchilada Bowl with Impossible Chicken) will launch in October.

AnalystQuickTake: Despite the slowdown in the plant-based meat sector, with companies like Maple Leaf Foods reducing its plant-based food division by 25% and Beyond Meat cutting down revenue forecasts , Impossible Foods has expanded its product portfolio with the introduction of many new products in 2022. In March 2022 , Patrick Brown, the company’s founder, stepped down as CEO and continued as its chief visionary officer to focus more on the company’s strategy and innovation, which seems to have had a positive effect on Impossible Food’s innovative product launches. While convenience bowls were the latest significant innovation, the company also introduced a new range of frozen meals, chicken patties , new options for school lunches (pre-cooked impossible burger patty and a plant-based whole grain nugget), sausage links, breakfast patties, chicken nuggets , and kid-sized burgers during the year. In addition, the company also partnered with Kroger , the largest supermarket chain in the US, to margin down into co-branded private label products to increase the reach of its products.
