Beyond Meat suspends COO following arrest on suspicion for biting a man’s nose

Management news

  • COO Doug Ramsey of California-based Beyond Meat has been suspended following an arrest on suspicion of biting a man’s nose during a fight that took place at an Arkansas football game over the weekend. The police charged the former COO on counts of terroristic threatening and third-degree battery and later released him on bond for USD 11,000.

  • According to a statement issued by the company, the operations activities overseen by Doug Ramsey previously have been taken on by Jonathan Nelson, Senior Vice President of Manufacturing Operations, in the interim.

  • AnalystQuickTake: Doug Ramsey joined Beyond Meat from Tyson Foods in December 2021 , along with chief supply chain officer Bernie Adcock. Ramsey managed Tyson's poultry and McDonald's operations and joined Beyond Meat immediately following the announcement of Beyond Meat’s three-year development deal with McDonald's . Although the Mcplant burger seemed promising at the start of the test launch, with analysts estimating a 35% boost to the top line , the test concluded in July 2022 without any comments regarding further plans of testing or a nationwide launch.
