Kodiak Robotics, an autonomous truck manufacturer, has partnered with transport and logistics provider Werner Enterprises to establish an autonomous trucking lane to run 24/7 long-haul freight operations. With this, Werner also joins Kodiak’s Partner Development Program (PDP), which helps carriers establish autonomous freight operations.
The two companies already conducted a week-long pilot between Dallas and Lake City, Florida, in August. The pilot run was conducted with a safety driver on board to take control if needed.
Analyst QuickTake: Today’s partnership builds on Kodiak Robotics’ recent pilots, with companies such as Ceva Logistics, U.S. Xpress, and 10 Roads Express. On a separate note, autonomous trucking is not new to Werner Enterprises as well. In fact, Werner Enterprises also has partnerships with peer autonomous trucking companies including Embark Trucks and Aurora Innovation for various pilots.
