Loop Energy, a Canadian developer of hydrogen fuel cell modules and stacks for vehicle OEMs and power generation system manufacturers, collaborated with Rampini Carlo SpA, an Italian bus manufacturer, to launch the latter’s first hydrogen-electric bus model, “HYDRON,” in Milan, Italy.
Under the strategic collaboration, Rampini developed its HYDRON bus by leveraging its battery-electric bus model, together with fuel storage and Loop Energy’s proprietary S300 fuel cell engine.
HYDRON is 8-meters long and can carry up to 48 passengers, powered by a 10.8-kilogram hydrogen tank, driving a range of 450 kilometers.
Analyst QuickTake: Loop Energy signed up Rampini as its third bus manufacturer to launch a hydrogen-electric bus platform, following its second bus manufacturer, Mobility and Innovation (M&I), a Slovakian manufacturer of hydrogen-electric city buses in July 2022. Loop Energy also entered into similar fuel cell agreements with Tevva Motors’ , Natural Gas Vehicles International (NGVI) , and Aluminium Revolutionary Chassis Company.
