Optibus, a mobility planning and management platform specializing in city-based bus travel, announced a partnership with Dr. Richard Linien GmbH & Co KG (Dr. Richard), one of Austria's largest bus companies and the region's largest owner-managed operator, to further expand its European presence with the addition of Vienna as well as other Austrian cities such as Graz, Linz, Villach, and St. Polten.
Dr. Richard plans to expand its fleet, invest in electric buses, and modernize its bus garages and depots in the coming years. As a result, the company intends to use Optibus technology to streamline workflows and plan scenarios for its services and schedules for its drivers, planners, and schedulers.
Optibus also stated that its entry into Vienna marks the 2,000th city where its solutions have been deployed, just nine months after Santiago became Optibus' 1,000th city with the signing of MetBus, Chile's largest public transit operator (PTO). Optibus software is now used in 30 countries around the world.
Analyst Quicktake: Optibus has expanded its presence in Europe by establishing regional headquarters and partnering with public transportation service providers like Dr. Richard. In September 2022, the company established its Nordic headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, and its regional headquarters in Rome, Italy.
