Climeworks, a Swiss direct air capture (DAC) startup, signed an eight-year carbon removal agreement with Crypto.com, a Singaporean cryptocurrency platform.
This agreement with Climeworks, allows Cyrpto.com to remove its direct carbon emissions from the atmosphere, which involves scope 1 and 2 emissions. Moreover, Crypto.com will also explore scope 3 emissions reduction initiatives with Climeworks.
Analyst QuickTake: Climeworks entered into similar carbon removal agreements with Microsoft , Stripe, and Shopify. The company’s most recent multi-year agreement was signed up with H&M Group in November 2022. Prior to this in October 2022, Climeworks signed another multi-year agreement with Zurich Insurance and a 9-year carbon removal agreement with PwC Switzerland , an audit and advisory firm.
