Volta Trucks receives European Type Approval for 16-tonne “Volta Zero”

Product updates

  • Volta Trucks, a Sweden-based developer of fully electric trucks, has received European Type Approval (ECWVTA) for its 16-tonne “Volta Zero” electric truck model, which gives the company permission to commence series production and sales.

  • The company expects to complete the production of its first trucks at its contract manufacturing facility in Steyr, Austria, in early Q2 2023.

  • Analyst QuickTake: Today’s permission marks an important milestone for the company to commence series production of its vehicles. The company first manufactured the Volta Zero production verification prototype in September 2022, and since then has been building the trucks incorporating customer specifications as well. Volta Trucks’ largest customers so far include DB Schenker (1,470 trucks) and Petit Forestier (1,000 trucks) , both of which are based in Europe.
